One year into the industry, rising auto technician Ali Harper from Honda of Cleveland Heights is thriving a month after attending a Matrix Efficiency Bootcamp. Ali was eager to advance his career as a technician but wasn’t sure what the career path looked like or when he’d get to the next step.

Harper attended the 4-day, hands-on General Service Efficiency Bootcamp at Matrix Trade Institute. In addition to an efficient lubrication, tire service and proper multipoint inspection. The training provides focused repetitions on tire pressure monitoring systems, bulbs, belts, hoses, acetylene torchwork, proper storying of RO’s and upselling opportunities.

“The last month has been amazing! I definitely see a difference in my inspections and efficiency,” Harper said. "I just want to say thank you. I've learned a lot this week and I hope I can keep coming back!"

Techs Value Formal Career Paths

Lack of a formal career path is one of the most common reasons technicians leave the industry, second only to the feeling management doesn’t care about furthering their career. Harper now knows that is NOT the case with his GM Jim O'Donnell and Service Manager Jason Gary and the team at Honda of Cleveland Heights because they DELIVERED.

By investing in formal training where it is safe to make mistakes and as a result learn a better understanding of processes and procedures required to efficiently repair vehicles, progressive companies that work with Matrix are leading the way for their employees with a modern approach to retaining, growing, and recruiting automotive mechanics, advisors, and autobody technicians.
